The firm, the work, and the people behind it.
Nielsen Law is an Austin estate planning, special needs, and probate firm founded by Liz Nielsen. Today the firm includes four attorneys, three paralegals and a legal assistant, and a Client Care Coordinator who is the first point of contact for new and existing clients. Together, the firm has guided hundreds of Austin families through the planning process.
Estate planning with a purpose.
Liz founded Nielsen Law to give Austin families clear, well-built estate plans and the kind of attorney relationship that lasts beyond the signing meeting. She is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization — a credential held by fewer than 1% of Texas attorneys — and the firm she built reflects that focus.
Today, four attorneys practice at the firm: Liz, Elizabeth Ziegler, Katlyn Winters, and John Glode. Three paralegals and a legal assistant support the work. The firm practices exclusively in estate planning, special needs planning, estate administration, and business planning.
The firm doesn’t treat estate planning as a one-time transaction. The signing of an estate plan is the beginning of a long-term relationship, not the end of one.

How the firm works.
The firm publishes six values that shape every engagement. They are not abstract; they show up in the way the firm runs intake, drafts documents, and stays in touch after the signing meeting.
Relationships
Estate planning is not a one-time transaction. Families grow, assets change, and laws change — plans need to follow. The firm builds long-term relationships with clients across the phases of life.
Respect
Strong relationships are built on mutual respect: respect for the role the firm plays in a client’s life, for the trust earned and maintained, and for the responsibility owed to the future of a family.
High Standards
High standards for the firm’s work and for the engagements it takes on. The firm works best with clients who are willing to commit to the planning process and bring their best to it.
Good Vibes
Estate planning can be involved and emotional. The firm brings laughter and levity to it where appropriate.
Community
The firm is dedicated to giving back through pro bono work, ad litem court appointments, nonprofit board service, and volunteer activities.
Family
Family is the foundation of the firm. For many clients, family is what drives them to complete an estate plan in the first place. The firm treats clients like family.
