Practice Area

Business Planning.

Entity formation, governance documents, and the corporate work that intersects with the firm’s estate practice — particularly business succession.

First.Overview

Many of the families the firm works with also run businesses, and most of those businesses eventually need to think about succession. Business planning at Nielsen Law is the work of forming entities, drafting and reviewing the documents that govern them, and — when the time comes — planning and documenting the transition of ownership to the next generation, to a partner, or to a buyer.

The firm works in cooperation with clients’ accountants and financial advisors. Some engagements are project-based; many become long-running, particularly where business succession needs to coordinate with the owner’s estate plan.
